Nokia 1100

The Nokia 1100 (and a closely-related variant, the Nokia 1101) is a durable and very simple GSM mobile phone produced by Nokia with a 96 x 65 monochrome screen. It is targeted towards developing countries and users who do not require advanced features beyond making calls and SMS text messages, alarm clock, reminders, etc.

The 1100 is similar to the now discontinued 5110/3210/3310 models that were among the most popular cell phones in the world a few years ago before handsets developed several new features such as cameras, polyphonic ringtones and colour screens.

Over 200 million Nokia 1100 cellphones have been sold since its launch in late 2003, making it the world's best selling phone handset,[1] as well as the best selling consumer electronics device in the world, beating Sony's Playstation 2 (125 million), Apple Inc.'s iPod (170 million), Motorola's RAZR (100 million), and LG's Chocolate (10 million).[2]

The Nokia 1100 was designed at Nokia Design Center in California,[citation needed] by the Bulgarian-American designer Miki Mehandjiysky.[citation needed]

Nokia's one billionth phone sold was a Nokia 1100 purchased in Nigeria.[3]

The Nokia 1100 phone lets you conduct business in confidence and style - in the shop or on the move, during the mid-morning rush or at midnight. New features like the long-lasting battery and a durable design help you work even smarter. The Nokia 1100 phone has been designed as a reliable, affordable communications tool that helps you work smarter. Useful messaging features - like a distribution list, selectable font size, and predictive text input in a variety of new languages - help you conduct your business efficiently. Intelligent details like anti-slip sides, a silicon keymat, and even a flashlight are housed in a traditionally stylish Nokia design. Reminders, a built-in alarm, vibration alert, and a new, long-lasting battery help you to stay in touch 24 hours a day.
